The Pininfarina Prima Forever is an inkless pen that uses the Ethergraf tip, a patented metal alloy inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's silverpoint. The mark it leaves on paper is permanent, obtained through natural oxidation of the surface, without wear to the tip and without maintenance.

To accompany the Prima Forever on your desk, pair it with a notebook with paper suitable for the Ethergraf tip. If you are looking for an inked instrument, the Pilot Iroshizuku take-sumi (bamboo charcoal black) or the J. Herbin La Perle Des Encres Perle noir offer a deep black suitable for those who love a precise and lasting mark.
Pininfarina Prima Forever: Ethergraf technology
The Ethergraf inkless pen works by direct contact with paper: the friction of the tip gently oxidizes the surface of the sheet, leaving a fine and discreet stroke, similar to that of a pencil but more defined. The mark is permanent and does not smudge. Furthermore, the tip does not wear out over time, so it does not require replacement or refilling of any kind.
The Pininfarina Prima Forever is not designed for taking quick notes or signing documents. It is an instrument for the slow gesture: sketches, evocative notes, light technical drawing. Unlike traditional pens, it leaves no ink residue and requires no maintenance.
Sergio Mori design and Italian craftsmanship
The Prima Forever was designed by Sergio Mori, who interpreted Pininfarina's values with fluid lines and a precise balance between form and function. In 2012, the project received a special mention at the Grandesign Etico Award, an award dedicated to design, innovation, and ethics. Each piece is made in Italy with micro-casting and artisan turning; the finishes are applied by hand, so each piece has its own unique characteristics.
The renowned Italian industrial design house Pininfarina brings the same formal attention applied to automotive projects to this instrument. Discover also the Pininfarina Speedform or the entire Pininfarina collection on Pens.it.

FAQ
How does the Ethergraf inkless pen work?
The Ethergraf inkless pen leaves a mark on paper through the natural oxidation of the surface. The patented metal alloy tip, in contact with the sheet, gently oxidizes the paper, creating a fine and permanent stroke, similar to that of a pencil but more precise. It does not use ink or graphite.
Is the Pininfarina Prima Forever suitable for everyday use?
It is not designed for taking work notes or signing documents. The Pininfarina Prima Forever is suitable for sketches, creative notes, and light technical drawing. It is an instrument for the slow gesture, not a substitute for traditional pens.

The Ethergraf technology, the Grandesign Etico Award 2012 recognition, and the Italian artisanal production make it an object with specific characteristics, not a generic item.
The Pininfarina Forever series styluses are "graph-engravers" composed of an aluminum stem and an ETHERGRAF® tip, specially forged by a team of goldsmiths who cast the block of metal alloy and oversee the manufacturing processes, shaping the various models up to the polishing and finishing stages. The tip is assembled to the stem only at a later stage, making each piece unique.
Conical body in anodized aluminum, available in 6 colors: silver, gold, titanium, copper, rust, bronze, red.
The Ethergraf® tip
The ETHERGRAF® tip allows you to write without using ink or graphite, simply by exploiting the oxidation of the paper.
It microscopically "scratches" the paper, oxidizing it and leaving a light but indelible mark.
Thanks to its porosity, ordinary paper, i.e. untreated cellulose paper (made from plant fibres bonded together through a process called "felting"), is a material that reacts perfectly to the passage of the metal tip.
Minimalist design even in the packaging
The Pininfarina Segno Prima pen is packaged in an original black, cylindrical cardboard box, which supports the pen on the desk like a modern fountain pen.
