The Pininfarina Speedform is a ballpoint pen that writes without ink, thanks to its Ethergraf tip. It belongs to the Transition collection, with dynamic shapes and progressive perforation.

Made from 3D printed aluminum, it is extremely lightweight. The design, conceived in Italy, plays with light and shadow that enhances the perforated structure.

Features of the Pininfarina Speedform

The Ethergraf tip microscopically scratches the paper, oxidizing it. It leaves a light but permanent mark, with no ink, cartridges or refills to replace over time.

The perforated pattern runs along the whole length of the pen, peaking in the central section. The cross-section starts circular, twists into a rounded triangle, then returns to a circle at the end.

A small magnet near the tip lets the pen balance on its stand. It defies gravity and enhances the perception of dynamism typical of Pininfarina design.

Design and ergonomics

The Pininfarina Segno Speedform pen develops a perforated pattern along its entire length, which reaches its peak in the central area.
The perforation is designed specifically to enhance the Ethergraf® technology, which does not require cartridges or refills inside the stylus.
The tip starts with a circular section and twists into a blunt triangle, which outlines three twists; then it tightens again into a circle at the tail.

The ETHERGRAF® tip microscopically "scratches" the paper, oxidizing it and leaving a light but indelible mark.
Thanks to its porosity, ordinary paper, i.e. untreated cellulose paper (made from plant fibres bonded together through a process called "felting"), is a material that reacts perfectly to the passage of the metal tip.

There's a secret to the Speedform pen: a small magnet located near the tip.
This allows the pen to remain balanced on its base, defying gravity and increasing the perception of dynamism.
