Visconti Homo Sapiens Legacy: technical specifications

Celluloid is a living material, increasingly rare in the world of luxury pens. Each piece is unique in its grain and chromatic depth.

The irregular red and blue striped pattern enhances the dynamism of the material. It also creates a vibrant play of light and color that accentuates the pen's shape. The rose gold finishes add warmth and elegance, while the enamelled clip reinforces the model's distinctive identity.

The Visconti Homo Sapiens Legacy fountain pen is available with an 18Kt gold nib in ExtraFine, Fine, Medium, Broad, and Stub sizes. It is also available as a rollerball, with the same rose gold finishes.

The Power Filler system

The patented double-reservoir Power Filler filling system is one of the most distinctive features of the Homo Sapiens series. It works by atmospheric pressure: the nib is immersed in ink, the blind cap is unscrewed to create a vacuum, then it is screwed back in to draw ink.

The double reservoir utilizes both the barrel and an additional reserve. As a result, the ink capacity is much greater than any cartridge or converter system.

The bayonet closure

The bayonet closure is equally refined. Small internal notches in the cap interlock with the barrel with a brief rotation. This ensures a perfect alignment of the spiral curve when the pen is closed, with a pleasant feeling of lightness and security.

It is a limited edition of 888 numbered pieces. It is designed for collectors and enthusiasts who seek rare materials and artisanal excellence, as per Visconti tradition.

FAQ

What material is the Homo Sapiens Legacy made of?

The Homo Sapiens Legacy is made of celluloid, one of the most prestigious and rare materials in the history of luxury pens. The pattern features irregular red and blue stripes: each piece is unique in its grain and color intensity.

How does the Power Filler work?

The Power Filler is Visconti's patented filling system. It works by atmospheric pressure: the nib is immersed in ink, then the blind cap is unscrewed to create a vacuum, and finally, it is screwed back in to draw ink into the double reservoir. It guarantees a much larger ink capacity than traditional cartridge or converter systems.

Which nibs are available?

The nib is made of 18Kt gold, available in ExtraFine, Fine, Medium, Broad, and Stub sizes. It is also available as a rollerball version.

Is it a limited edition?

Yes, it is limited to 888 numbered pieces.

What distinguishes the Homo Sapiens Legacy from other Homo Sapiens models?

It stands out due to its use of celluloid, a historical and increasingly rare material, in contrast to the basaltic lava, resin, or carbon used in other versions. The rose gold finishes and enamelled clip also complete a warm and elegant aesthetic, different from the more technical character of other Homo Sapiens models.

Celluloid

Introduced at the beginning of the 20th century and always loved by collectors, celluloid is considered one of the most prestigious and fascinating materials ever used for luxury pens. Celluloid is a living material, known for its exceptional chromatic depth, its natural luminosity, and the complexity of its production process, which for several years has made it increasingly rare – almost impossible to find, by now – in the landscape of writing instruments. Its unique veins and shades mean that every pen is a unique piece.

Conceived for collectors and enthusiasts looking for rare materials, artisanal excellence, and timeless design, Homo Sapiens Legacy celebrates the return of a legendary material and its place in Visconti's history.
