The 800 model is the large size of the Pelikan Souverän. Classic lines, generous dimensions, suitable for a man's hand. The green striped pattern is the same on all sizes (400, 600, 800, 1000) for one of the most famous models in the history of the fountain pen.
1 / of3
The barrel of the Pelikan Souveraen 800 is made of cellulose acetate, still produced using the same technique as in the 1950s; the raw cotton material undergoes numerous processing steps until it is transformed into a striped sheet, which is then shaped, sandblasted, and cut into a cylinder with diamond tools.
The Souverän was also made with red stripes, using the same process, and with blue stripes.
The nib
The nib, made of 18kt gold, two-tone, finished with rhodium decoration, is hand-tested for each pen.
The filling system is a differential piston: a mechanism introduced by Pelikan in 1929, which makes the piston inside the fountain pen rotate faster than the end of the barrel, thanks to two different threads.
24kt gold-plated finishes; the clip features a subtle spring effect and the classic "pelican beak" shape.
The Souveraen 800 fountain pens and rollerballs are packaged in an elegant rectangular box, with a free pen pouch.
