When a pen tells a painting's story
Vincent van Gogh painted The Prisoners' Round in 1890, during his stay at the psychiatric hospital in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, inspired by an engraving by Gustave Doré. Anonymous figures walking in a circle, aimlessly, surrounded by towering walls: a work that speaks of isolation, of time standing still, of denied freedom – considered one of his most psychologically intense paintings.
Visconti has translated all of this into an extraordinary fountain pen.
