The Visconti Van Gogh collection
This Visconti Van Gogh series is the second edition dedicated to the great Dutch painter.
The first series, with a round cross-section and available in three sizes (Maxi, Midi, and Mini), was made with a mixture of natural resins and vegetable components: launched in the late 1990s, it was discontinued in 2008 after ten years of great success.
The second Van Gogh series was launched in 2011 with a completely renewed identity. Its success was immediate, thanks to three distinctive elements: the regular size suitable for every hand, the extraordinary colours - mixed and streaked, inspired by Van Gogh's brushstrokes and palette - and above all, the 18-faceted shape on the barrel and cap, a geometry never before achieved in the world of fine pens.
Visconti has since selected the most representative paintings of the master and developed original color formulas to achieve a rendition that connected such different objects and techniques: acrylic resin and oil paint, pen and brush.
Another innovative element is the magnetic closure: simple, silent, and effective. Not only does it reduce the effort required to open, but the system has also been designed to facilitate closing, making it optimal for anyone - even the most distracted - and eliminating the risk of typical accidents with poorly closed screw pens.
Each colorway in the Van Gogh series is inspired by a specific artwork. The Van Gogh Potato Eaters recalls the dark, earthy tones of The Potato Eaters (1885), one of the masterpieces of Vincent van Gogh's Dutch period, with its streaks of ochre, dark green, and deep brown.
Technical features
The Van Gogh Potato Eaters is available as a fountain pen (steel nib), a rollerball, and a ballpoint pen. The fountain pen comes with 2 nib models: size#6, personalised with Van Gogh logo, or normal Visconti size #5 nib. Both are available as Fine, Medium, or Broad tip. The 18-faceted resin barrel and cap are finished with palladium-plated trims. The filling system is a standard international cartridge or converter (included). The weight of the empty fountain pen is approximately 32g with the cap, for optimal writing balance.

Potato Eaters
The Potato Eaters is one of Vincent van Gogh’s first great masterpieces, created in 1885 in a rural village in the Netherlands, where the artist closely observed the harsh lives of farmers and miners.
The painting depicts a family gathered around a table, eating a simple meal of potatoes under the dim light of an oil lamp.
Van Gogh uses dark tones, strong facial features, and thick brushstrokes to convey the authenticity, toil, and dignity of peasant life, drawing inspiration from 17th-century Dutch realist painting.
With intense emotional sensitivity, the artist seeks to represent the profound humanity and social truth of his subjects.
