The Visconti Van Gogh Collection
This Van Gogh series by Visconti is the second edition dedicated to the great Dutch painter.
The first series, with a round cross-section and available in three sizes (Maxi, Midi, and Mini), was made with a blend of natural resins and vegetable components: launched in the late 1990s, it was discontinued in 2008 after ten years of great success.
The second Van Gogh series was launched in 2011 with a completely renewed identity. Its success was immediate, thanks to three distinctive elements: the regular size suitable for every hand, the extraordinary colors – mixed and streaked, inspired by the brushstrokes and palette of Van Gogh's paintings – and above all, the 18-faceted shape on the barrel and cap, a geometry never before seen in the world of fine pens.
Visconti has since selected the master's most representative paintings and developed original color formulas to achieve a result that connects such diverse objects and techniques: acrylic resin and oil paint, pen and brush.
Another innovative element is the magnetic closure: simple, silent, and effective. Not only does it reduce the effort required to open it, but the system has also been designed to facilitate closing, making it optimal for anyone – even the most distracted – and eliminating the risk of typical accidents with poorly closed screw-cap pens.
Each color in the Van Gogh series is inspired by a specific work of art. The Van Gogh Café Terrace at Night evokes the bright, nocturnal tones of Café Terrace at Night (1888), one of the masterpieces from Vincent van Gogh's Arles period, with streaks of warm yellow, orange, midnight blue, and green.

The Van Gogh Café Terrace at Night is available as a fountain pen (steel nib), as a rollerball, and as a ballpoint pen. The fountain pen comes with 2 nib sizes: size #6 customized with the Van Gogh brand, or the standard Visconti nib size #5. Both available in Fine, Medium, and Broad. The 18-faceted resin body and cap are finished with palladium-plated ends. The filling system is a standard international cartridge or converter (included). "Terrasse du café le soir" was painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1888 in Arles, Southern France, during one of the most creative and luminous periods of his career.
The work depicts a lively café terrace in the evening hours, illuminated by intense yellow lights that contrast with the deep blue of the starry sky and the night streets.
Here, Van Gogh abandons the somber tones of his early works and experiments with vibrant colors, dynamic perspectives, and strong chromatic contrasts to convey warmth, vitality, and a poetic atmosphere.
