Capless Fountain Pen - retractable nib.

The unmistakable Pilot Capless fountain pen, without a cap, features an immediate and very easy push-button nib mechanism, just like a ballpoint pen. The system is also known as Vanishing Point.

Practical and functional, original and elegant; it is fitted with an 18kt white gold nib that writes very smoothly.
The nib is protected inside the pen by a small spring-loaded valve that hermetically seals the opening. The ink does not dry out, and the nib does not leak.

Available in various colours.

The retractable capless nib

Pilot's ingenious capless system allows the nib to extend and retract into the barrel via a push-button mechanism similar to that of a ballpoint pen.
Practical and safe: when the nib is retracted, it is protected by a small spring-loaded valve that hermetically seals the opening, preventing the ink from drying out (or smudging), ensuring immediate writing.

Ink flow

The technical innovation is not limited to the nib mechanism but extends to the converter, which contains small metal beads that ensure maximum reliability of ink flow.
Due to surface tension, ink tends to "cling" to the plastic walls of the converter or remain blocked in the upper part, creating an air bubble at the bottom. If the ink does not flow down to the feed, the pen stops writing even if the reservoir is full.
The beads act as mobile weights that, by moving, break this tension and force the ink to slide towards the nib.
Furthermore, some inks tend to settle at the bottom, and in this case, the beads act by mixing the pigments or metallic particles and ensuring a uniform colour.

Pilot includes these beads in its converters to ensure maximum reliability of ink flow.

Retractable nib

The ingenious Pilot Capless system (also known as Vanishing Point) allows the nib to extend from and retract into the barrel via a push-button mechanism similar to that of a ballpoint pen.
Practical and safe: when the nib is retracted, it is protected by a small spring-loaded valve that hermetically seals the opening, preventing the ink from drying out (or smudging) and ensuring immediate writing.

The metallic spheres inside the converter prevent air bubbles from forming and improve ink distribution, mixing pigments and ensuring uniform color.
Pilot inserts spheres into its converters to ensure maximum ink flow reliability.
